Content of the ILUA Commencement The ILUA commences on the Execution date [13 December 2010]. Clause 5, which deals with future acts, commences upon Registration [8 August 2011]. Future Acts The parties have consented to the grant of a term lease over the ILUA area. A term lease is a lease which is issued for a set number of years in accordance with the Land Act 1994 (Qld). They have also consented to any renewal, re-granting or re-making of the Lease. Background to the ILUA The Indjalandji-Dhidhanu People filed a claim for Native Title in the Federal Court of Australia on 8 October 2009. The area subject to the application covers approximatly 19,730 square kilometres and is located approximately 25km west of Mount Isa in the vicinity of Camooweal. The matter is yet to be finalised by the Federal Court. |
