The Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland was established in 1996, to create and manage the Mareeba Tropical Savanna and Wetland Reserve for conservation, recreation and education. The savanna reserve totals some 2000 hectares at the foot of the Hann Tableland to the northwest of Mareeba. The wetlands total approximately 120 hectares of open water.
The Wildlife Conservancy of Tropical Queensland is also a respondent in the case of Baker on behalf of the Muluridji People v State of Queensland [2011] FCA 1432.
