The Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council was formed in 2008 as part of the State Government's amalgamation policy. The Bamaga and Seisia Island Councils, and the Injinoo, New Mapoon and Umagico Aboriginal Councils were all amalgamated with the Northern Peninsula Area Regional Council.
Detailed Information:
'Council consists of five divisions, one for each of the former entities. Each division elects one councillor. The Mayor is elected across the entire Council area.' (Council website)
