The Aboriginal Health Council of South Australia (AHCSA) operated as an incorporated health unit under the South Australian Health Commission Act until 2001. It was first incorporated in 1981 and its role was to advocate for Aboriginal people in South Australia, as well as to provide support for Aboriginal health workers and community health organisations.
In 2001, AHSCA separated from government and became a community controlled organisation when it re-incorporated under the Associations Incorporation Act.
