The Determination Area comprises Lot 121 within the Town of Kalkarindji, excluding administrative Lots 126(A), 127(A), and 129(A) as depicted on Map 1. The ILUA Area is all the land and waters within the boundary of the Town of Kalkarindji as proclaimed in the Australian Government Gazette on 5 October 1976, and as depicted on Survey Plan S83/205 and on Map 2.
Legal Status: Registered with the National Native Title Tribunal on the Register of Indigenous Land Use Agreements on 21 November 2014. This is an Area Agreement under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

Commencement

This ILUA was registered with the Register of Indigenous Land Use Agreements on 21 November 2014.

The Extract specifies the start date as 27 May 2014, but does not specify an end date for the Agreement.

The Agreement commences on the Date of Execution. The Extract does not specify this Date. However, the Agreement is of legal effect upon being entered on the Register.

Native Title Provisions

The parties to the Agreement consent to the surrendering and extinguishment of Native Title to the Northern Territory of Part A of the Agreement Area.

Native Title in the ILUA Area

Kalkarindji and Daguragu are on the traditional homelands of the Gurindji people, and these communities are linked to the Malgnin, Mudpurra, Bilinara, Ngarinman and Warlpiri peoples through the historic Walkoff from Wave Hill Station, which was initially established on Gurindji traditional lands in 1883.
