The VCA provides long-term protection for 30 hectares of coastal forest, woodland and Coila Lake frontage. It was entered into pursuant to the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 (NSW) (s 69B). The agreement guarantees permanent protection of important habitat for native flora and fauna as well as significant Aboriginal heritage values. The VCA sets out a Management Plan which covers matters relating to weed control, regeneration issues, feral animals, erosion control, grazing, buffer zones, gates and fencing, flora and fauna management, productive yield, aboriginal heritage, fire management, education, and development. The VCA is legally binding on the Commonwealth and the owners of the land covered by the agreement. If the land is sold, the agreement remains in place.
