Summary Information: | |
The Closing the Gap in the Northern Territory National Partnership Agreement ('the Agreement') is an Intergovernmental Agreement specifically addressing Indigenous disadvantage in the Northern Territory. The protection of vulnerable children, the provision of law and order, and improving education and health and health services are the priority areas under this agreement.
The agreement expires 30 June 2012, except for the Additional Teachers component which expires 31 December 2012. |
Detailed Information:
The Agreement was to be consistently implemented with the objectives and outcomes of all National Agreements and National Partnerships, particularly the 'National Partnership on Remote Service Delivery' (which had 15 priority communities in the Northern Territory).
The Agreement transitions the NTER to a three year development phase, maintaining core NTER measures while placing a greater emphasis on community engagement and building capability within Indigenous communities (Clause 5).
