Details of the Agreement: The ILUA is located in the local government areas of Shire of East Pilbara and Shire of Meekatharra. The agreement area covers about 782 sq km, located west of Newman.
Commencement The ILUA commenced on 10 March 2016.
Native Title Provisions The ILUA does have statements that references subsection 24EB(1) or 24EBA(1) or (4) of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
Background to the Agreement The ILUA allows land to be used for mining purposes.
Native Title in the ILUA Area:
The ILUA is in the native title claim area of the Nyiyaparli People. A consent determination hearing is listed at the Federal Court of Australia on 28 September 2018 to be held on-site in Pilbara (Federal Court Commonwealth Portal 2018).
