Summary Information:

The Northern Australian Indigenous Reference Group (IRG) was established in December 2017 as a formal advisory group to the Commonwealth of Australia's Ministerial Forum on Northern Development. The primary purpose of the group is to provide Indigenous perspectives to the Forum's deliberations. The Forum exists within the Office of Northern Australia in the Commonwealth Department of Industry, Services, Energy and Resources.

The IRG collaborates with the state, territory, and federal governments, as well as non-governmental and governmental organisations to create policy initiatives that will enhance the engagement of Northern Australian Indigenous interests in the economy of Northern Australia. The group's membership is comprised of senior Indigenous leaders from across Northern Australia who hold high-level and broad-ranging expertise across Indigenous business, community, and government sectors.
