Summary Information:

The Taungurung Land and Waters Council (Aboriginal Corporation) (TLaWC), formerly the Taungurung Clans Aboriginal Corporation, was registered as the Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) on 16 July 2009, representing the interests of the Taungurung People.

The Taungurung clans are the Traditional Owners of a large part of Central Victoria, and TLaWC is a signatory to the Taungurung Settlement Indigenous Land Use Agreement (TSILUA)

TLaWC advocates for the interests of Taungurung people, and manages country and projects on their behalf. Its key functions are to:

  • hold benefits and exercise responsibilities conferred on the Tangurung People pursuant to the TSILUA;
  • protect cultural and environmental heritage and values of the Tuangurung People;
  • develop projects and opportunities that increase the wellbeing and cultural integrity of all Tuangurung People; and
  • gather and conserve Taungurung knowledge, history and cultural heritage.
