Yenbena Indigenous Training Centre is the initiative of the Yorta Yorta National Aboriginal Corporation, the Australian National Training Authority and the Victorian Aboriginal Education Association Incorporated. It has been in operation since March 2001 to provide 'targeted and culturally appropriate training to Indigenous young people'. The Yorta Yorta community have sought funding from the Victorian State government to tailor a training program to meet their own needs. In order to provide training, Yenbena has been registered as a Registered Training Organisation with the State Training Board of Victoria.
The Yenbena Indigenous Training Centre 'provides an example of best practice in relation to increased and targeted employment and training outcomes for Indigenous people, community participation and capacity-building'. |
