Registered with the Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations on 3 October 2017.

On 20 December 2018, the Wurundjeri Tribal Land and Compensation Cultural Heritage Council Aboriginal Corporation (WTLCCHC) changed its name to the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation (WWWCHAC).

The WWWCHAC was registered under the Corporations (Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander) Act 2006 (Cth).

Registered Aboriginal Party (RAP) status in Victoria

The WWWCHAC achieved RAP status on 22 August 2008, when the WTLCCHC was appointed as such by the Victorian Aboriginal Heritage Council (VAHC) under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006 (Vic). 

Area of responsibility

On 1 July 2021, the area contained within the RAP boundary was extended. 

The total area of the WWWCHAC's responsibility spans across Melbourne and the northern surrounding areas. In the south, it includes part of the Melbourne CBD, including Docklands, South Wharf and Southbank. It also includes south-eastern suburbs such as Malvern. In the east, it includes parts of the Yarra Ranges National Park. In the north, it borders on the Kinglake National Park, and includes part of the Macedon Ranges.

Activities as a RAP

In 2017, the WWWCHAC and the Victorian Government launched the Yarra River Action Plan, including creating the Birrarung Council. 

Also in 2017, the Elders of Wurundjeri Council addressed Victorian Parliament for the first time to support the Wilip-gin Birrarung murron (Yarra River Protection) Bill 2017.
