The Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) is the peak representative and lobbying body for Victoria's 79 local government councils. It was established in 1879 and became the official representative body of Victorian local government in 1907. The role of MAV is to advocate on behalf of the local government sector, provide policy advice and insurance services, and to improve the profile of the local government sector.
