Summary Information:
The Pilbara Native Title Service was set up in 2000 following reorganisation of the Yamatji Land and Sea Council. The Yamatji Land and Sea Council was established in 1994 under the Native Title Act 1993 and recognised as the native title representative body for the Yamatji region. Following reorganisation in the year 2000, the Yamatji Land and Sea Council took responsibility for the Pilbara Region and it set up the Pilbara Native Title Service as its operational arm in the Pilbara region.
