Summary Information:
The Dharug people were those people who spoke the Dharug language and were one of a number of major Aboriginal language groups within Sydney, the others being Dharawal/Tharawal, Gundungurra and Kurringgai. The language groups were made up of clans or bands (often referred to as 'tribes'). The clans or bands belonging to the Dharug language group were the following: Cadigal, Wangal, Burramattagal, Wallumattagal, Wallumattagal, Kameygal, Birrabirragal, Borogegal-Yuruey, Bediagal, Bidjigal, Toogagal, Cabrogal, Boorooberonga, Cannemegal, Gomerigal-tongara, Muringong, Kurrajong, Boo-bain-ora, and Mulgoa.
