    The Dharawal People were those people who spoke the Dharawal/Tharawal language and were one of a number of major Aboriginal language groups within Sydney, the others being Dharug, Gundungurra and Kurringgai. The clans or bands (often referred to as 'tribes') belonging to the Dharawal/Tharawal language group were the following: Gweagal, Norongerraga, llawarra, Threawal, Tagary, Wandeandega, and Ory-ang-ora.
