The new arrangements developed from an initiative of the Council of Australian Governments and replace the previous ATSIC system of funding. For more information see 'Shared Responsibility Agreement' below.
    Detailed Information:
    Purpose

This SRA will provide for the employment and training of five Indigenous Education Workers (IEWs) through the CDEP program, and will fund radio broadcasts to promote education.

    Shared Responsibilities

The community will develop ways in which education can be promoted via radio. Parents of school-age children will send their children to school, and will contribute to a school nutrition program through Centrepay. Each family group in the community will chose a person to work and train as an IEW, and elders will provide cultural education at the school.

The Warruwi local store, which is run by the Arnhemland Progress Association, will cater for the nutrition program. The health clinic will provide regular health screenings at the school. The Warruwi Community Council will administer the related CDEP positions.

The Commonwealth Government will fund the IEW positions, radio broadcasts and training.
