Summary Information:
The Te Arawa Lakes Settlement Act 2006 is an Act to:

(a) record the acknowledgements and apology given by the Crown to Te Arawa in the deed of settlement executed on 18 December 2004 by

(i) the Minister in charge of Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations, the Honourable Margaret Wilson, and the Minister of Maori Affairs, the Honourable Parekura Horomia, for the Crown; and

(ii) Andrew Wharehuia Rangiheuea, Poiti Arama Karaka Pirika, and Roku Adrian Mihinui, by affixing the common seal of the Arawa Maori Trust Board for the Board and as mandated negotiators for Te Arawa; and

(b) give effect to certain provisions of that deed of settlement, being a deed that settles the Te Arawa lakes historical claims and the Te Arawa lakes remaining annuity issues.
