Aberfoyle Resources Ltd was acquired by Western Metals Ltd in 1998. Aberfoyle Resources Ltd is no longer involved in the Merlin diamond mine.
Ashton Mining (a subsidiary of Rio Tinto Zinz Ltd) acquired 100% of the Merlin diamond mine; the mine was in production from 2000 to mid-2003 when it was closed down and subsequently sold to Striker Resources Ltd in 2004. Striker Resources was renamed North Australian Diamonds Ltd, and recommenced production at the Merlin mine during 2005-2006.
