Summary Information:
Sons of Gwalia Ltd ('SGW') is an Australian listed, gold and advanced minerals company, based in Perth, Western Australia.

Brothers, Peter and Chris Lalor formed SGW in 1982, for the purpose of retreating the tailings at the historic Sons of Gwalia Gold Mine at Leonora in Western Australia. SGW was listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in 1983, initially raising (AUD) $2 million. For the financial year ended 30 June 2001, SGW reported its ninth consecutive increase in net profit after tax to $63.7 million or $0.539 per share.

Today, SGW has two operating divisions, Gold and Advanced Minerals. The Gold division has a long term sustainable production base of in excess of 600,000 ounces of gold per annum, from three regional centres in the Leonora, Laverton and Southern Cross regions of Western Australia. The principal source of income for the Advanced Minerals division is the production and sale of tantalum concentrate. In the 2001 financial year, SGW produced approximately 1.6 million lbs of tantalum concentrate (approximately 30 percent of world demand) from its Western Australian operations at Greenbushes and Wodgina. In July 2000, SGW announced plans to expand tantalum production from 1.1 million lbs per annum to 2.3 million lbs per annum, at a capital cost of approximately (AUD) $100 million.
