Summary Information:
The Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education is a higher education institution situated 100 kilometres south of Darwin. Established in 1982, it is the first Australian education institution to be owned and controlled by Indigenous Australians.In 2003, over 3100 students were enrolled in 80 different higher education and vocational courses. The Institute's vision is to encourage empowerment and advancement while strengthening identity.
