Tumbukka Regional Council is an elected representative body established under the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission Act 1989. It represents and advocates on behalf of Indigenous Victorians in relation to the provision of services and the implementation of policies and programs that improve the economic, social and cultural well-being of Indigenous people in Victoria.
Detailed Information:
The Council has representatives on and provides funding for the Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee and has close contact with Community Justice Panels across the State. It is committed to working with the State Government and other agencies in relation to the implementation of the Victorian Aboriginal Justice Agreement. In relation to the Justice Agreement its role will be to:

1. Support and promote the Agreement through participation on the Aboriginal Justice Forum, the Aboriginal Justice Working Group, and the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committees.
2. Advise the Government on issues and priorities to successfully implement the Justice Agreement.
3. Consider opportunities to link the Regional Council Plans with the Regional Aboriginal Justice Advisory Committee Plans.
4. Promote the participation of other Commonwealth departments and agencies in the Justice Agreement and associated activities.
5. Consider the development of joint initiatives with the Government to promote the objectives of the Justice Agreement.
