Summary Information:
The Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council was established under the Aboriginal Land Grant (Jervis Bay Territory) Act 1986 (Cth) (the Act). The Council is a body corporate with functions which include: holding title to Aboriginal land; exercising its powers as owner of land for the benefit of members of the Community; providing community services to members of the Community, conducting business enterprises for its economic or social benefit, and taking action in relation to its housing, social welfare, education, training or health needs; protecting and conserving natural and cultural sites on Aboriginal land, and managing and maintaining Aboriginal land (sec 6). The Act sets out procedures for the administration and membership of the Council.
