The Department of Human Services was established in October 1997 by bringing together various government departments and agencies. The Department is responsible for the policy administration and operation of public health, hospitals, family and community services, disability services, ageing and housing.
The Department of Human Services was replaced on 1 July 2004 by two separate entities - the Department of Health and the Department for Families and Communities. |
