    The Department of Families, Youth and Community Care is now known as the Department of Communities. It aims to create and maintain '[s]trong communities where all people are safe, valued and empowered, wherever they live, whatever their circumstances' (Department of Communities, 'Vision'). The central priorities of the Department are to ensure equitable access to government and community services and information; enable input into Government decision-making; and promote the well-being and safety of Queenslanders. The Department works in collaboration with government, local communities, non-government organisations and the private sector in order to achieve its goals.
