| The Aboriginal Co-ordinating Council (ACC) is a statutory body under the Queensland Community Services (Aborigines) Act 1984. It is a democratically elected 'peak body' for the Deed of Grant in Trust (DOGIT) Aboriginal communities in Queensland, providing a formal link between the Aboriginal Community Councils and all levels of government. |

| The ACC plays a key role in relation to the Agreement for the Provision and Management of Housing and Infrastructure for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People in Queensland. The ACC's Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson sit on the Joint Planning Group (the Group) set up under that Agreement. Pursuant to that Agreement the ACC commits to a four year planning project; provides endorsement for the Strategic Plan; administers funds where appropriate; provides advice to the Group on relevant policies and priorities or strategic directions and on development and implementation of strategies; promotes coordination between linked programs of the Commonwealth, ATSIC and the State of Queensland; liaises with community councils; and promotes strategies for local, state and national research and information collection. | |
