According to its website (c2005), the Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust 'was established in 1981 for the purpose of administering the "township sections" on behalf of the beneficial owners of Ngati Whakaue.' It 'continues to monitor the use of lands donated by the tribe to the city and now administered by the [Rotorua District Council] under an accord with Pukeroa Oruawhata Trust.'
The Pukeroa-Oruawhata Trustees are a signatory to the Ngati Whakaue Deed of Agreement.
