Summary Information:
The Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Environment (DIPE) was established in November 2001 to provide a coordinated approach to the provision of transport and infrastructure, development planning and protection of the environment as well as the use and preservation of land and water resources and the protection of native flora and fauna. DIPE ensures that as the Territory develops it does so in an environmentally sustainable manner.

DIPE has now been replaced by the Northern Territory Department of Planning and Infrastructure (planning and infrastructure) and the Northern Territory Department of Natural Resources, Environment and The Arts (environment).
